I’m excited to introduce you to a dear friend of mine, Alex Eaves! Alex is a REUSE Expert who will be screening his documentary, REUSE! Because You Can’t Recycle The Planet at my retail shop Glaze Handmade, Friday April 18 at 5-8pm. The documentary is the result of a tour through the lower 48 US states, where Eaves and his team sought out businesses, organizations and people who were reusing in original ways. They came across everything from skateboards made out of wine barrels in California to a community garden made with tornado debris in Mississippi to a used medical equipment program in Georgia. On his journey, Eaves finds endless reuse solutions for our waste problem that are not only sustainable, but many of which are easy and fun! And he learns just how reuse truly benefits "people, planet, and wallet."
Eaves is also the owner of green certified reuse apparel brand,STAY VOCAL (http://stayvocal.com), which rescues T-Shirts to give them a second life. This apparel line is made from both brand new T-Shirts that were going to be destroyed and garments found at thrift stores and through donations. Eaves started the business after almost a decade of traveling the world, selling merchandise for rock bands. He saw a major waste problem in the T-Shirt industry and decided to come up with a solution.
